Senior Project Manager

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager  to join our client based in Hamilton Wentworth, Ontario. The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated track record of successfully delivering complex projects in ICI / Commercial Construction. The successful candidate will be a driven and experienced leader who enjoys the challenge of bringing our clients dreams to reality – delivering efficient and cost-effective facilities on time and on budget while maintaining positive and productive relationships with all of the project partners – internal and external. 

Responsible For

  • Participate in the Design-Build team from sales handover through turnkey project delivery, providing leadership across design coordination, quality, safety, team management, scheduling, and PC/SS support
  • Maintain financial control of multiple projects by competitively tendering scopes of work, negotiating subcontractor buyouts, tracking budgets, and preparing accurate monthly cost reports and forecasts
  • Plan, develop, and drive project schedules by leading Site Superintendents, Project Coordinators, and Trade Contractors, ensuring progress is tracked against baseline schedules and next steps are clearly defined
  • Identify and mitigate project risks in accordance with Prime and Subcontract terms, proactively preventing disputes and resolving issues efficiently with support from senior leadership when required
  • Ensure client expectations are met through consistent communication, coordination, and oversight, including post-construction warranty support
  • Oversee construction execution through site inspections, delegation of responsibility to Superintendents, and accountability for quality, safety, schedule, and site organization
  • Manage tendering, bid leveling, buy-out approvals, contract administration, billing documentation, and reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Maintain overall control of project documentation and reporting, including submittals, RFIs, change logs, inspections, biweekly reports, and monthly budget updates

Specific Skills

Technical Skills:
  • Proven experience in welding and fabrication is required.
  • Strong understanding of building science, drawings, specifications, job cost accounting, and the role of engineering within a design-build environment
  • High attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex information accurately and communicate it clearly in both written and verbal formats
  • Proven problem-solving, conflict resolution, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to negotiate, persuade, and drive outcomes when required
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities, ensuring priorities are managed effectively across multiple demands
  • Demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and ethical judgment, with strong customer service skills and sound business and financial acumen

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum of 15+ years experience in project delivery including all major facets of Pre-Con development, procurement, negotiation, and technical experience.
  • Diploma or degree in Building Science, Architectural Technology, or Construction Management or other relevant combination of education and experience.
  • An Engineering degree with a specialization in Construction Project Management is considered an asset.
  • PMP Certified is a plus.
  • Extensive new build (greenfield) experience is a requirement.
